Local Entrepreneur Launches Seminar Series Using Area Experts

Springfield, MO, April 5, 2010: Don Harkey, entrepreneur and owner of Galt Consulting, is launching a series of educational and networking opportunities in the Springfield area to destroy the myth that business leaders have to travel the country to find subject matter experts capable of helping them solve their business problems.  Unlike events featuring out of town experts in the past, his “Galt Seminars: Passion is Productive” series aims to showcase local area business experts who understand the local aspects of business challenges along with the technical ones.

“Working with multiple area organizations, I receive frequent questions about specific topics,” said Harkey.  “If I don’t have the answers, I usually know someone who does.  When area experts cooperate, we can provide business owners with local access to the resources they need, and everyone wins.”

In the past, local experts have held their own events and promoted them separately.  “Many experts don’t like organizing and marketing events to get their message out,” Harkey said.  “If marketing isn't a local expert's strength, then the people who need their knowledge the most, don't always get access to it, and both sides suffer unnecessarily." Harkey thinks he found a way to solve that problem.

The first Galt Seminar was held on March 17th at the Doubletree Hotel in Springfield on the subject of Social Media.  Local marketing expert Brett Curry, president of Curry Marketing, and Matthew P. Block, Social Media consultant and owner of Matthew P. Block Enterprises presented at the half-day workshop to area business owners and leaders.  Future topics are likely to include Generational Issues in the Workplace, Strategically Managing the Human Resource, and an expanded full-day workshop on Social Media scheduled for May 11th.

For more information on Galt Seminars, visit www.GaltSeminars.com or contact Don Harkey at 417-459-2887.

Note to Editor: Harkey available for interview.
